SECTION 3 — THE FIVE PILLARS

Every BBB book, every session, and every phase is built on the same five foundational Pillars.

Pillar 1 — Biblical Literacy Bible ABC's Introducing the language, symbols, and foundational concepts of faith. Before a child can read Scripture with confidence, they need to know its world.
Pillar 2 — Spiritual Formation Growing My Faith Developing personal faith through spiritual disciplines and core theology. Faith is not inherited — it is formed. This Pillar builds the habits that sustain it.
Pillar 3 — Bible Navigation Books of the Bible Building confidence in finding, reading, and understanding Scripture. A child who knows their way around the Bible is a child who can encounter God on their own.
Pillar 4 — Prayer Life The Lord's Prayer Cultivating a vibrant, personal prayer relationship with God. Not recitation — relationship. This Pillar teaches children to pray as a conversation, not a performance.
Pillar 5 — Knowing God Names of God Discovering the character, nature, and attributes of the Trinity. Moving from knowing about God to knowing Him — personally, deeply, and with growing confidence.
SECTION 4 — THE THREE PHASES
One Journey. Three Phases.
The BBB series is organized into three phases — each one building on the last, each one meeting participants exactly where they are.
Three phase cards:
Phase 1 — Foundations Ages 3–12 The earliest and most formative season. Phase 1 lays the complete foundation — all Five Pillars introduced through story, song, repetition, and hands-on engagement. Books 1–5.
Phase 2 — Advanced Discovery Ages 10–14 The pre-teen season — when faith moves from inherited to owned. Phase 2 deepens every Pillar and introduces more complex theological concepts through discussion, reflection, and peer engagement. Book 6.
Phase 3 — Teen & Young Adult Ages 12+ The commissioning season — when young people are equipped not just to hold their faith but to live it, lead it, and pass it on. Phase 3 includes the crown jewel of the series and the advanced prayer curriculum. Books 7, 7A, and 8.
Adult continuation: The BBB journey does not end at young adulthood. Book 9 — Practical Prayer — carries the practice of prayer into full adult life.

The Biblical Building Blocks series was written by Malissa Shanece McIntosh — educator, ministry leader, and founder of P-Cube Inspirations and P-Cube Leadership Institute, based in Abaco, The Bahamas.
The BBB series grew out of a conviction that children deserve more than Bible stories — they deserve a complete foundation. Frequently Asked Questions
What age group is the BBB series designed for? The BBB series spans from ages 3 through adulthood. Phase 1 covers ages 3–12, Phase 2 covers ages 10–14, Phase 3 covers ages 12 and up, and Book 9 is designed for adults.
Do I need to use the books in order? The books are designed to build on each other within each phase. We recommend starting at the beginning of the relevant phase for your group. Facilitators are trained to understand the succession logic of the series.
Do I need to be certified to use the BBB curriculum? Certification is required to use the books. We strongly recommend that anyone facilitating BBB content complete the L1 certification — it is designed specifically to equip you to use the curriculum well.
Can I use BBB in a school or community setting? Yes. BBB is used in churches, Christian schools, home education settings, and community programs. The facilitation training covers all of these contexts.
